The City Palace is the residence of the Royal family of Jaipur. It is a beautiful palace built with the fusion of Shilpa Shastra, Vastu Shastra, and Mughal designs. The royal palace is also a museum that is the doorway to the state’s armory, costumes, and history. The fort offers picturesque spaces that look beautiful and are worth capturing.
Iconically called the ‘Palace of Winds’, the Hawa Mahal is a uniquely designed monument built opposite the royal City Palace. It is unlike any monument and houses 953 small windows called Jharokha’s. Past Indian traditions during the King’s rule called for a ‘veil’ or ‘Purdah’ for women that restricted royal family’s women from moving out of their homes and participating in social gatherings.
These 953 windows were designed so that women of the royal family could watch outside processions/ceremonies without actually going outside the palace or anyone seeing them from outside.
